Often overlooked in favour of the bigger northern parks, this small park in the shadow of Mount Meru is one of the few places in Tanzania where you can canoe among hippos, walk with an armed ranger, and get close enough to giraffe to hear them chewing  all in a single half-day, making it a genuinely useful add-on around an arrival or departure.
