For a private safari with your own vehicle and guide, based on two people sharing, typical 2026–2027 prices are roughly US$250–400 per person per day on a budget (camping or simple lodges), US$450–800 mid-range (comfortable lodges and tented camps) and US$850–1,500+ for luxury camps and fly-in options. There is no single migration month – the herds move all year. January–March is calving season in the southern Serengeti (Ndutu), with intense predator action. June brings Grumeti River crossings in the western corridor. July–September is the most reliable window for the Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti, and from October–December the herds return south. Read our month-by-month migration guide.

The two dry seasons – roughly late December to early March and June to October – give the most reliable conditions. June to October is the driest but busiest period; January to early March is warmer with fewer climbers. With a reputable local operator, expect roughly US$1,500–2,200 per person for a budget climb, US$2,200–3,500 for a well-run mid-range climb and US$3,500–6,000+ for a premium climb.
